Cooper Week 1

Part of my purpose of this blog is to keep family and friends up-to-date with Cooper's growth.

Day 1 Cooper's Birthday
This was probably the most surreal day of my life so far.  I had a scheduled c-section due to Cooper being breech.  I had no labor pains or contractions, so I literally walked into the hospital for an appointment.  I have never had surgery in my life before so I was very nervous.  I was shaking the whole time.  When they pulled cooper out of me, I remember saying to Brian, my husband, that it still didn't feel real.  Having a c-section was a bittersweet experience for me.  I probably saw Brian and Cooper for a total of 20 minutes in the first 2 hours of Coopers life.  I had a baby, but I didn't have my baby.  I really think I missed out on some bonding at the point.  Then the flood of visitors came.  that was a lot to handle.  I wanted to share Cooper with everyone, but trying to figure out breastfeeding and deal with the exhaustion from surgery was too much to handle.

Day 2  Hospital Pics
This day came with a whole new kind of busy.  There were tests, more visitors, but my favorite part was the pictures.  I had picked this outfit out awhile before Cooper was born.  I found this outfit on Etsy at http://www.etsy.com/shop/SpunkyLilMonkey.  I had a different outfit from SpunkyLilMonkey, but it got ruined.  The customer service from this Etsy shop was great and she helped me find a suitable replacement and it couldn't have been better!

Day 3
I wanted to use this day to talk about how wonderful my husband is and what a great man and father he is.  I really don't know what I would've done without his help during this whole process.  I don't know how women get c-sections without the support of anyone.  My husband had never been around babies much nor had never changed a diaper up til this point.  Having a c-section left me unable to leave bed and do much, so Brian stepped up and did everything for me!  I feel so blessed!  My husband is even more attractive to me now with the new title of Father.  I have never seen him so caring, concerned, overjoyed, tender, and patient in the 8 1/2 years that I've known him.

Day 4 Going Home
I was very pleased with my stay at Good Samaritan Hospital.  The nurses were kind, the food was great, but I wanted to get home because I had issues with breastfeeding at the hospital.  Everyone gave me different advice and they are so on you that it was stressful.  I just wanted to go home to figure it out on my own, and we did!

Day 5 At Home
My first full day home and I was already itching to get out of the house.  We just went to the end of the street but it was perfect for testing out our brand-new stroller.  The Kolcraft Contours Options 3 wheeler-Berkeley is a great stroller.  We didn't want a cheap 4-wheeler where the wheels chatter all the time and are only good for the mall.  For the price, our stroller we feel is the best.  It turns on a dime, can handle "off-roading", has lots of basket room, accessories, and what we love the most are the attachments.  It came with a car-seat attachement and a seat attachment the reclines all the way back and can turn forward or rear facing.  Great Buy!

Day 5 First Sponge Bath

This first bath made me nervous, yet I was so excited at the same time.  It was just a sponge bath, but this was the first time I was able to see all of Cooper and inspect every bit of him.  I learned just how perfect God made him and appreciated his beauty as a little human even more.

Day 6  We Did It!!!
A whole week of parenting under our belts!  You feel accomplished and life is such a blur at the same time.
